Navigating the CivicFeed

The CivicFeed contains posts from government agencies, elected officials and public officials. This is the primary engagement feature on CivicBell.

Types of Posts

🎙 Info Post

  • The go-to way officials share information with residents.
  • Users may react to the post.
  • Users may comment on the post if the official enables commenting.

👂 Discussion Post

  • For deliberating amongst community members and connecting with officials.
  • These discussions are topical and based on what the officials decides the prompt question should be. Please keep the discussion on topic to promote effective and productive civic discourse.
  • Discussion posts have a timeframe established by the posting official. After the discussion is “closed” the post will remain viewable but you will no longer be able to engage. The post is placed into “outcome” when the official updates the respondents on the result of the discussion.
    • Check on the outcome of discussion posts you have responded to in the “Your Activities” tab. See how government officials have acted upon community feedback.

📋 Survey Post

  • Directly answer surveys from your elected and public officials.
  • Survey posts have a timeframe established by the posting official. After the survey is “closed” the post will remain viewable but you can no longer answer or change your answer. It is placed into “outcome” when the official updates respondents on the result of the survey and/or the next steps.
    • Check on the outcome of survey posts you have responded to in the “Your Activities” tab. See how government officials have acted upon community feedback.

Topics and Filters

  • Denoted by a “#”, topics allow posts to be browsed by subject.
  • In the “filter” options, you may filter for posts by topic or by district, allowing you to sift through your feed for specific posts.
